Our original thoughts from back in August,
"Let's have a Caribbean theme Happy Hour"
on September 22.

As Irma closed in, that plan started to seem cavalier.  Even more so after seeing the utter devastation that took place on St Martin, Tortola, Jost Van Dyke, St John, St Thomas and then on to our second home, the Florida Keys and Key West

Having time to think about it,
here's what we would like to do.

Let's have a Caribbean fund raiser
Happy Hour September 22.

Please plan on attending and putting $5, $10, $50, $100 whatever bucks in the kitty.  I'll be doing some research to try and find the safest most useful spot(s) to send our donations.  Please inform me if any of you know of any organization(s) that are sure to get our money to where it will do the most good.  I'll try to check out all you recommend @  Charity Navigator link
We'll take recommendations as to where to send our money too.

We'll update this and the Happy Hour blog when a decision is made as to where we want to donate.  I'll work hard to do it right.

Pass the word about this Happy Hour.  Every little bit will help.

Warmer Happy Hour
WEATHER UPDATE as of 9-18!

Wear some Caribbean gear, hat, T-shirt, tropical shirt.
Let's try for a group picture at 6:30 +/-

It seems there is nothing green remaining

Beth and I visited Jost Van Dyke in 2014 by kayak.  We camped at Ivan's Stress Free Campground for a few days.  We came back after camping and stayed a week.  We both admit it was the best vacation we have ever had.
Beautiful people, beautiful island.

Jost has a about 300 residents.  We don't want to see them passed by due to small population.  They are a gem of the Caribbean.

Some Jost Van Dyke before and after pictures.

Here is a map of the southeast United States.  You can zoom in on the Florida Keys and see an aerial view.  These views are taken AFTER IRMA.  It shows heavy damage in Big Pine Key, down to at least Sugarloaf.
Zoom in to see a post Irma view of the Keys. Click here.

Big Pine Key is about 35 miles up the Keys from Key West

This site was up and running before our lovely stay on Jost in 2014.  I viewed it to get a feel for the island.  I liked what I saw.

Dan N Randy mentioned this charity started by Kenny Chesney and Beth passed it to me.
